The premiere of „St. Luke Passion” at Alvernia Studios

On 31 March and 1 April 2012, Alvernia Studios hosted a premiere of Krzysztof Penderecki’s ‘St. Luke Passion’, directed by Grzegorz Jarzyna. The show was put on the initiative of the National Audiovisual Institute as part of the finale of the National Cultural Programme of the Polish Presidency 2011. The event accompanied the Misteria Paschalia festival.


Vocals were performed by Iwona Hossa – soprano, Piotr Nowacki – bass and Thomas Bauer – baritone. The soloists was accompanied by CAMERATA SILESIA – The Katowice City Singers’ Ensemble, the PUERI CANTORES SANCTI NICOLAI Boys’ Choir and AUKSO Chamber Orchestra of Tychy conducted by Krzysztof Penderecki.


It was the first time when Alvernia Studios hosted an event for such a big audience – altogether over 1400 viewers participated in the two concerts. The premiere were attended by Piotr Uszok, the president of Katowice and Jacek Majchrowski, the president of Kraków.
