The participation of Poles in the production of the Romanian-Polish co-production ‘Crulic – a Path to Beyond’ directed by Anca Damian was significant. Their input has been appreciated in Bucarest, where the Gopo Awards were handed out at the end of March. Sound engineers from Alvernia Studios, Piotr Witkowski, Sebastian Włodarczyk and Bartłomiej Bogacki, were awarded for the best sound, while Piotr Dziubek, a composer, accordionist and pianist, was awarded for the best music.

The Alvernia Studios’ sound department has already created several soundtracks for films such as ‘Maiden Vows’, ‘Black Thursday’, ‘All Matthew’s Women’, and the American co-production ‘Vamps’, but ‘Crulic – the Path to Beyond’ is a special project. The sound recording was preceded by a very careful preparation, because the filmmakers wanted to achieve a realistic effect, highlighting through a special sound design the subjective accents of the story. To achieve that, Bartomiej  Bogacki, location sound mixer at Alvernia Studios, spent two days in Kraków detention centre, recording sounds which were then used for the soundtrack.

The Polish producer and distributor of the animated documentary are Magellan Film Foundation and Arkadiusz Wojnarowski; the film was made with the financial support of Polish Film Institute and Regional Film Fund in Kraków from the resources coming from the budget of Lesser Poland Province and Kraków County. The DVD premiere of ‘Crulic – the Path to Beyond’ will take place in April.
