Piotr Witkowski and Sebastian Włodarczyk, sound engineers from Alvernia Studios, have received the award for the best sound for “Crulic – the Path to Beyond” directed by Anca Damian at the 37th Gdynia Film Festival. The composer Piotr Dziubek has been awareded for the best music, and the film itself has received  the Special Prize of the Jury “for its courage in the form and content as well as for unique artistic values of the film”.
An animated documentary “Crulic – the Path to Beyond”, which is a Romanian-Polish coproduction, tells a story of Claudio Crulic, a Romanian prisoner who died in the Krakow detention centre after a four-months hunger strike which was a protest against dubious evidence justifying the arrest.
- ‘We would like to share the prize with our colleague Bartłomiej Bogacki, who was responsible for recording the sound on the set, for example at the detention centre, and had a significant input in creating the sound to the film’ – says Sebastian Włodarczyk.
- ‘Our special thanks go to director Anca Damian’ – adds Piotr Witkowski – ‘Without her creative contribution, we would not be able to achieve such effects.’
This is yet another award that went to our sound engineers for their work for “Crulic – the Path to Beyond”, as they received the Gopo award from the Association for Romanian Film Promotion in March.
The Polish producer and distributor of the animated documentary are Magellan Film Foundation and Arkadiusz Wojnarowski; the film was made with the financial support of Polish Film Institute and Regional Film Fund in Kraków from the resources coming from the budget of Lesser Poland Province and Kraków County.
