ALVERNIA STUDIOS PARTNER WITH EXCEL ENTERTAINMENT TO TAKE BANGISTAN TO KRAKOW

Bollywood Comedy comes to the streets of historic Polish city

MUMBAI/LOS ANGELES/LONDON, 21st APRIL, 2014: Alvernia Studios has today announced an agreement to partner with leading Indian producer Excel Entertainment to bring Karan Anshuman’s upcoming comedy BANGISTAN to Kraków. Filming will start in Krakow this July, with the state of the art Polish studio taking on line production responsibilities.
The film, a comedy about two rival terrorists who meet by chance on the streets of Krakow, stars popular Bollywood actors Ritesh Deshmuks and Pulkit Samrat, alongside a host of Polish supporting talent. The shoot is anticipated to take 40 days in Kraków and it’s surrondings. The City of Kraków consequently builds the image of great shooting location and is pleased to host Indian production BANGISTAN by providing comprehensive logistic and promotional support. Krakow is a particularly filmmaker-friendly city. Its unique outdoor locations, atmosphere, excellent production environment and the support offered by the Krakow Film Commission are appreciated around the world.

Excel Entertainment, owned by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, has an established reputation in the domestic and international market, having produced 12 feature films with total budget about 55 mln$ in recent years. BANGISTAN is their first production on Polish soil.

“Excel Entertainment’s movie project, “Bangistan,” marks the beginning of a new association for Excel Entertainment. We are looking forward to working with Alvernia Studios, our partners in Poland. This is the first time we will be shooting in the beautiful city of Krakow. We aim at capturing the city’s serenity and energy in a manner that best suits our film and enhances the movie watching experience for our audiences,“says Ritesh Sidhwani.

Vice President of ALVERIA STUDIOS Marek Gabryjelski said of the partnership: “Alvernia Studios is excited to begin work on this project, and to further our already strong ties to the Indian film industry. We’re delighted to welcome audiences to the stunning city of Krakow, and we anticipate that the city itself will take on a starring role in the production.”

With offices already established in Mumbai, the partnership marks the continuation of Alvernia Studios’ burgeoning relationship with the Indian film market, following the studio’s post-production work on a number of previous Indian projects like the successful last year’s BHAAG MILKA BHAAG.

Based outside Krakow, Alvernia Studios has worked in various capacities on over 50 feature films, more than 200 commercials, video games and music projects, and was co-producer of acclaimed legal thriller ARBITRAGE as well as the Sigourney Weaver film VAMPS. Alvernia boasts state-of-the art facilities and is one of Europe’s most unique studios.
