ALVERNIA STUDIOS – one of the best laboratories in Europe

The ALVERNIA STUDIOS  negative film-processing laboratory once again received the maximum amount of points in the KODAK IMAGECARE certification program. ALVERNIA has been a participant of the prestigious Kodak program since 2011 and is one of only 19 laboratories in the world that have been granted this certificate.

The laboratory is constantly working on new projects. Materials for several productions are simultaneously being developed. “Last season, our laboratory developed and prepared transfers of several films recorded on the 35mm negative including, among others, “Hiszpanka,” “Red Spider,” “Jack Strong,” “The City 44,” and “Zbliżenia.” We strongly believe that the suggested “twilight of the film stock era” has been exaggerated,” says Jakub Chilczuk, Head of Postproduction in ALVERNIA STUDIOS.

Christian Richter, Kodak’s Film Laboratory & Studio Relationship Manager, who is an author of a report on the condition of film-processing labs in the world, expresses a similar sentiment: “(…) at my meetings with studios, I heard that they still saw a film as an important medium to tell their stories. It was encouraging to be reassured that a film shoot was not more expensive than its digital equivalent, and to feel the passion that the studio executives still had for the film. Studios prefer to rely on creative teams that when choosing a medium format opt for the best solution to match the particular story – which is the only way it should be done.”
