The Alvernia Studios film-processing laboratory received the prestigious Kodak Imagecare Program quality certification, which ensures world class levels of quality. Thus, our studio was placed among the top world film laboratories.

The KODAK Imagecare Program was created to assess and classify quality standard of film laboratories. The membership in the Programme ensures that a certified laboratory meets the strictest quality criteria by adhering to the World Class standards of the Program. To apply for the certification, a laboratory has to undergo a very detailed audit which inspects the procedures implemented by the laboratory, the qualifications of the team, the equipment and its maintenance.

The audit, which checked the quality of film-processing, the functioning of control mechanisms as well as the skills and knowledge of the members of the team, was conducted at the beginning of November. All elements of the Programme which were inspected – the method of negative developing (Colour Negative Processing Department), the method of chemical solutions preparation (Chemical Mixing Department), the qualification of the team as well as the method of film processing – received the maximum amount of points.

A very important part of the accreditation is the assessment of the physical stability of the process in a laboratory. The marker of this parameter is developing a special test (Kodak Uniformity Test). The test developed in Alvernia Studios went to the USA for careful examination. A score of minimum 6.0 is necessary to receive the accreditation. our laboratory received 8.5 points, an excellent rating.

“We’re delighted to welcome Alvernia Studios into the Kodak program” - says Diane Carroll-Yacoby, Worldwide Manager for the KODAK Imagecare Program -“Their film processing operations are really first-class and we’re proud to accredit them as the first Kodak IMAGECARE Camera Negative Processing Laboratory in Poland.”

The Alvernia Studios laboratory has been functioning since 2010. It was established and created by Radosław Piotrowicz, an outstanding expert in the field of film processing, the head of New Digital Film Lab in Copenhagen. Presently, Ignacy Kalenkiewicz is the head of the team, a technologist with over 30 years of experience in the field. The laboratory offers a full range of photochemical treatment of 16mm and 35 mm negatives. Alvernia is the only place in Poland where the film negative is developed just as the biggest film studios in the world do it – in an ultramodern Australian drive processor – FilmLab ECN-2 12MD58. High-quality of service is ensured by a protection set – unique intrinsic mucilage system, which excludes the access of any external mechanical impurities, automatically sustained constant temperature and humidity, filtration effectiveness at 99.995%, and double filtration and reverse osmosis of water.

The most important productions of our laboratory so far are, among others: “Śluby panieńskie” (Maiden Vows) dir. Filip Bajon, “Essential Killing” dir. Jerzy Skolimowski, “Jak się pozbyć cellulitu” (How to Get Rid of Cellulite)  dir. Andrzej Saramonowicz, “George the Hedgehog” dir. Wojciech Wawszczyk, “Vamps” dir. Amy Heckerling, “W cieniu” dir. David Ondřiček, “Yai Hai Yo Mohabbat” dir. Shree Narayan.
