World-famous composer Elliot Goldenthal, Academy Award®and Golden Globe winner, worked in ALVERNIA STUDIOS on the recording of the  “Othello Symphony.” It is an unprecedented event. Goldenthal recorded in Poland for the first time.

This versatile composer, creating works for the theater, opera, ballet and film, is known to the wider audience as Academy Award® and Golden Globe winner for Best Original Score to the film “Frida” and as the composer of scores to such films as “Alien 3” and “Interview with the Vampire.” His achievements include nominations for two Oscars, three Golden Globes, three Grammy Awards, two Tony Awards and three CFCA Awards (Chicago Film Critics Association Award). He is the winner of the LAFCA Award (Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award) for the Best Original Score to the “The Butcher Boy.”

In ALVERNIA STUDIOS Elliot Goldenthal recorded a concert version of the “Othello” ballet (called “Othello Symphony”) accompanied by 74 musicians from the AUKSO Orchestra conducted by Marek Moś. Ewa Guziołek-Tubelewicz, Tadeusz Mieczkowski and Piotr Witkowski (Head of the Sound Department in ALVERNIA STUDIOS) were responsible for the sound engineering.

“It’s the first time for me to record in ALVERNIA STUDIOS. The choice of this place was determined mainly because of practical reasons. The studio has very good equipment and world-class experts. Everything you need to create a good recording is there – mixing consoles, microphones, instruments. The studio offers various possibilities thanks to the variable ceiling geometry and reverberation characteristics. There’s a lot of space outside and in the control room, which makes this place perfect for work. I visited ALVERNIA STUDIOS for the first time a year ago, when I took part in the Film Music Festival in Kraków. I was really impressed and I was waiting for a project that I could do here.” - said Goldenthal while working in ALVERNIA STUDIOS.

The recording of “Othello Symphony” is a result of close cooperation between the Film Music Festival in Kraków and ALVERNIA STUDIOS. Thanks to this cooperation ALVERNIA STUDIOS was also visited by: Howard Shore, Tan Dun, and brilliant director and composer Tom Tykwer.
