Variety: Casta, Parker sign for ‘Arbitrage’

Thesps join Gere, Sarandon, Roth in financial thriller

French thesp Laetitia Casta and Nate Parker (“The Great Debaters”) have boarded Nicholas Jarecki’s financial thriller “Arbitrage.”

The thesps join Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, Tim Roth and rising star Brit Marling.

Pic, which began lensing in Gotham on Tuesday, follows the story of hedge-fund magnate Robert Miller, played by Gere, who is forced to lean on an unlikely ally after he makes a major banking error.

Casta plays art dealer Julie Cote, Miller’s mistress. She was recently seen in Joann Sfar’s “Gainsbourg,” where she played Brigitte Bardot.

Parker plays Jimmy Grant, a face from Miller’s past. As well as starring alongside Denzel Washington in “The Great Debaters,” he also starred in 2008′s “The Secret Life of Bees.”

Jarecki also penned the script for “Arbitrage,” which is produced by Laura Bickford, Kevin Turen, Justin Nappi and Robert Salerno.

Brian Young, Mohammed Al Turki, Ron Curtis, Stanislaw Tyczynski, Lauren Versel and Maria Teresa Arida all exec produce.

Lisa Wilson’s Parlay Films is handling foreign sales for the pic, while WME’s Graham Taylor reps domestically with LGNA’s Linda Lichter.

Casta is repped by Hamilton Hodell, and Parker is repped by WME.
